Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of more than 100 related viruses, many of which are spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact. HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK, and it’s estimated that around 4 in 5 men and women will have HPV at some point in their lives. While many HPV infections cause no symptoms and go away on their own, certain high-risk types can lead to serious health conditions.
All our staff carrying out vaccinations have been trained and follow a prescribed process, to ensure your safety and comfort. If you do not like needles, please don’t be concerned and do mention it to our team when you visit. They will be able to provide reassurance and make the process as stress-free as possible.
Why Vaccinate Now
HPV is highly common and can be contracted even if you’ve only had one partner. Vaccinating early before exposure offers the strongest protection against cancer-causing strains. Whether you’re catching up on missed doses or protecting your child’s future, now is the best time to act. The sooner you’re protected, the longer you’re covered.
Some strains of HPV are linked to:
Asthma
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Diabetes
Heart failure
Weakened immune systems
Because HPV often has no visible symptoms, many people don’t realise they’re infected or passing the virus to others. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent HPV infection and its associated risks.
Who should get the HPV vaccine?
The HPV vaccine is recommended for:
Girls and boys aged 9 to 15, ideally before they become sexually active, to maximise protection
Young adults aged 16 to 25 who may have missed their NHS vaccine at school
Anyone up to age 45 who is at risk or wants added protection
It’s suitable for all genders and is also helpful for individuals in new relationships, or with multiple partners, who may be more vulnerable to HPV exposure.
You will be assessed during a free consultation to confirm eligibility and discuss any medical history or medication concerns.
Not suitable for:
Those with a severe allergy to any component of the vaccine
Individuals with a fever or serious illness on the day of vaccination
HPV Vaccine Dosage and Pricing
We offer Gardasil 9, a safe and widely used HPV vaccine that protects against nine HPV strains, including those responsible for around 90% of cervical cancers and the majority of genital warts cases.
Depending on your age and medical history, your vaccinator will recommend either:
1 dose
2 doses (for those under 15)
3 doses (for those 15 and over, or immunocompromised individuals)
HPV Vaccine (single dose): £180 – Often 2 or 3 doses will be required depending on age and risk factors. Discounts available for multiple doses – ask our team.
How the Service Works
Appointments are quick and take place in your Pharmacy+Health private consultation room at many of our local community pharmacies.
Free clinical consultation with one of our trained vaccinators to assess your eligibility and answer questions.
Vaccination is given as a single injection, typically in the upper arm.
You’ll receive clear aftercare advice, including information on possible side effects (mild redness, fatigue, or muscle aches).
Vaccines help protect you and others against diseases. We offer a range of vaccination services through convenient, bookable health appointments at many of our Pharmacy+Health branches.
Why We’re Providing HPV Vaccinations
Many of the conditions that we offer vaccines for, are very prevalent in the UK population and can make you feel very unwell or worse. The NHS typically offers these vaccinations but with eligibility criteria limiting their availability. Paying to vaccinate yourself, if you are not eligible, is an investment in your health and wellbeing.
Widely available across Yorkshire communities at Pharmacy+Health branches, this service provides convenient access to a range of vaccines, to protect you against specific diseases.
These vaccines may not be available through the NHS to all patients. With the symptoms and consequences of some of these common diseases being very serious, getting vaccinated through our paid-for service, can be a wise investment in your future health.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your HPV vaccination will be administered by a professionally trained Pharmacy+Health vaccinator in a private consultation room. Your first appointment is free and includes a review of your medical history and vaccine suitability.
After your initial dose, follow-up appointments will be scheduled at 1–2 month intervals depending on the vaccination schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many different vaccines are prevalent in society and being vaccinated protects you, your loved ones and the wider community. Unfortunately whilst the NHS vaccinate millions of people for many different conditions each year, their eligibility criteria mean that some vaccines are not available for many people. Our affordable, paid-for Vaccination Service enables you to quickly book and receive the vaccinations you want. Protecting you and those around you.
Our trained staff will welcome you into the consultation room, confirm which vaccine you’re to receive and which arm you would prefer to have the jab in. Please tell them at this point if you are nervous about injections. Once the jab is complete, they may ask you to remain seated, either in the consultation room or the main part of the pharmacy to be observed for a period of time.
Whilst the NHS commissions both pharmacies and GPs to provide a range of vaccinations for those at the highest risk and where the population health benefit is greatest, this excludes some individuals. Our affordable paid-for service opens up the choice to be vaccinated to everyone.
Possibly. It depends on which vaccinations and what your pharmacist advises. If you would like to book multiple vaccinations, please phone or visit your preferred branch, discuss it with the pharmacist and ask them to book you in for an appointment once you have agreed the best approach with them.
