I studied Pharmacy in University of Bradford and successfully qualified in 2013. My home country is Greece but my passion for my job kept me here ever since. I have always worked in community based pharmacies and have proudly served thousands of patients with a variety of ailments. I have lead teams through change and transformation in 4 different companies so far. I am known for my passion to always improve procedures and find better ways to deliver our services. This is the reason I joined Pharmacy Plus Health; Our vision to transform community pharmacy by maximising use of our dispensing hub whilst spending more time with our patients. In my spare time I usually enjoy italian food and a glass of whiskey.

Hello! I’m Fiona, the Lead Independent Prescribing Pharmacist and Designated Prescribing Practitioner. I’m currently piloting the very exciting NHS Independent Prescribing Pathfinder pilot service at Alwoodley. I’ve always been passionate about community pharmacy and the tailored, personalised feel they provide to their local communities combined with the networks they have for signposting patients to various different services and the opportunities to intervene to improve patients’ health and wellbeing. Having this advanced skill set in a company where the hub and spoke model supports the dispensing of prescriptions offsite by machinery that gets the medicines ready in a more efficient and safer way, enables me to have time to consult with patients on a deeper level. I can consult and prescribe for extended minor ailments outside of the pharmacy first criteria such as chest infections, adult ear infections, over 65 and more complicated UTI infections and acute skin issues. Also, in conjunction with AMC, I can initiate and manage Blood Pressure and assess and treat a cardiovascular risk. This pilot service has been a welcomed reinvention of community pharmacy allowing pharmacists to utilise their skills better, support the patients more and open up the access to primary care and a collaboration between GP surgeries and neighbouring pharmacies that is beneficial for all. These innovative ways are demonstrating successes of how we can support the NHS better by working differently. I am so proud to be leading on this exciting new vision, transforming community pharmacies and being involved with training fellow pharmacists to do the same.
