Frequently Asked Questions

There is no NHS funding for the delivery of prescription medicines. Historically, pharmacies chose to subsidise delivery for their patients from the payment we receive from the NHS for dispensing your prescription.

As has been covered in the media, Pharmacy in England is now in a funding crisis and we frequently make a loss on the NHS prescriptions we dispense. As a result pharmacies are regularly closing.

We cannot continue with free delivery for all patients.

We ask that where you can, you or your local representative start collecting your medicines from your local Pharmacy+Health branch or pay for delivery.

This will help us maintain a viable service for the most elderly and vulnerable in our community.

We have an assessment process available, so if you believe that, due to severe health issues, you should receive continuing free home delivery please phone or visit your Pharmacy+Health branch.

They will carry out a ten minute assessment and make a decision in-line with our Equalities Act obligations.

Free prescription delivery is no longer sustainable.

Reduced Department of Health funding and increasing costs means pharmacies across England are losing money dispensing many of the
prescription medicines you need. The un-funded delivery of those medicines, for all patients, is simply not sustainable.

Reasonable use of the service is seen as being between one and three deliveries per month. Please see our terms and conditions for more details.

We ask you to try and synchronise your prescription-requesting with your doctor each month. Asking them to prescribe a small number of one medicine to bring it in line with your others can result in less work for your GP and help us deliver efficiently.

Unfortunately no.

The prescription delivery service is a service for each individual and their medicines. We have analysed our data and coordination of requesting by multiple family/household members and issuing of aligned scripts by Drs, does not take place. Unfortunately there is no opportunity for us to deliver at the same time and pass any benefit on to patients.

Typically we deliver to addresses approx 1.5miles from the pharmacy. This can be your home address or an alternative address where a recipient has agreed (for all deliveries).

You can also certify if your letterbox is a safe, secure and anonymous place to deliver (subject to your medicines being the right size).
