NHS Community Pharmacy Consultation Service
The NHS Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) was launched in 2019 to help alleviate pressure on GP appointments and hospital emergency departments. Under the scheme, patients can be referred to highly skilled and qualified pharmacists for a same day appointment from the NHS 111 service or directly from GP practices for treatment and medication for some minor illnesses.

- You do have to be referred by your GP or via NHS 111
What type conditions are covered?
You may be referred to our pharmacists under CPCS for many minor illnesses and symptoms including, amongst others, athlete’s foot, vomiting and problems with existing wounds. You may also be referred for an urgent supply of previously prescribed medicines.
If, after initial consultation, our pharmacist feels that you need to be referred or escalated to an alternative NHS service or for emergency care, they will arrange this for you.
How it works
Initially the CPCS service was launched to take referrals from NHS 111 following an initial assessment from an advisor and extended in 2020 to take referrals from GPs.
Our pharmacy team will receive a digital referral after which a highly skilled pharmacist will provide you with advice and treatment or an emergency supply of your prescribed medicines.
You cannot make an appointment for this service directly with the pharmacy, patients must be referred by an appropriate NHS service.
