Mariam Ahmad

Having previously achieved my First-Class Honours in Master of Pharmacy at the University of Bradford, I am practicing as a (GPhC) registered Pharmacist. To further develop my clinical skills, I am studying at the University of Leeds to qualify as an independent prescriber. During my pre-registration year, I undertook 6 months training at Airedale General Hospital which helped me to gain an insight into the complications of uncontrolled and untreated illnesses as well as enabling me to develop my interpersonal skills. Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team is key in order to obtain the best outcome for the patient. Due to this, I used the opportunity to enhance my clinical and consultation skills by observing consultants, nurses, oncologists, psychiatrists and a vast majority of senior and highly educated healthcare professionals which helped me to engage with patients in the best way possible. Supported by a team of dispensers, I understand the distress patients face when dealing with acute and chronic illnesses and I pride myself in offering patients a high level of service that is both responsive and efficient. I believe in patient-centred care where patients can manage to adhere to their medical regime and receive optimal medical treatment.
